Located in Mazotos are several houses built based on popular architecture which, according to Costas Papageorgiou, are characterized by the following features:

  • They usually consisted of two floors with many spacious rooms.
  • They had big yards.
  • They had tiled roofs.
  • They were mainly built using adobe.
  • They featured small wooden balconies.
  • They also featured rooms on the second floor, which they could be accessed through internal or external staircases which were either wooden or stony.
