Located in Mazotos are several houses built based on popular architecture which, according to Costas Papageorgiou, are characterized by the following features:
- They usually consisted of two floors with many spacious rooms.
- They had big yards.
- They had tiled roofs.
- They were mainly built using adobe.
- They featured small wooden balconies.
- They also featured rooms on the second floor, which they could be accessed through internal or external staircases which were either wooden or stony.
